The President of the World Armwrestling Federation signed a Memorandum of cooperation with the Rector of Medical University -Varna.
The President of the World Armwrestling Federation Mr. Assen Hadjitodorov, and the Rector of the Medical University – Varna, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raikov, signed a memorandum of partnership between the World Armwrestling Federation and MU-Varna.
The host of the event was Albena Resort, where the World Armwrestling Championship 2025 will take place in September.
Attending the event from the World Armwrestling Federation were Secretary General Mircea Simionescu-Simicel, Director of the Committee for Para athletes Eng. Lyudmila Mazhdrakova, and three-time world champion and coach of the Bulgarian team for Para athletes, Veronika Bonkova. Medical University -Varna was also represented by Eng. Deyan Grancharov – Vice-Rector, Prof. Todorka Kostadinova – Director of “Accreditation, Quality and Project Activities”, Prof. Gergana Nenova – Head of the Department of “Kinesitherapy” and Assoc. Prof. Juliya Videnova – Head of the Department of “Physical Education and Sport”.
The partnership between the Medical University – Varna and the World Armwrestling Federation anticipates the implementation of joint initiatives in the following areas:
● Scientific research related to the physiological, biomechanical, medical, and rehabilitation aspects of armwrestling, with a special emphasis on Para athletes with physical disabilities.
● Education and training of students, coaches, referees, and other specialists in the field of sports medicine, kinesiology, rehabilitation, and anti-doping control, applicable to armwrestling
● Improvement of the health, safety, and sports performance of armwrestling wrestling competitors, including Para athletes, through evidence-based approaches.
● The development of the sport of Armwrestling and Para armwrestling through the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices.
